10,000 bag lunches

As we have all watched COVID-19 cause unexpected disruptions to our lives, perhaps none are more impacted that those struggling on our streets.  Our Minneapolis/St. Paul homeless population have been deeply affected by closures of drop in centers, food pantries and other places they commonly use to access meals and daily necessities.  To help, Involve MN has set a goal of producing and distributing 10,000 bag lunches in the next 6 weeks for those struggling with homelessness.  To accomplish this goal, we have engaged our private, nonprofit, faith and governmental partners to accommodate all aspects of this initiative.

Just this past week, volunteers produced and distributed 1,500 bag lunches to those who needed them the most.   The response has been amazing with one of our outreach partners telling us, “It’s an honor to pass out these lunches; people see the logo and know it’s a good meal.”  All meals are produced in a licensed commercial kitchen, and distributed using the best practices of social distancing.  We have a financial need of approximately $30,000 to meet our goal, with every dollar going to food and items for those we are serving.
